FAQ
-
Can I use my Dutch card at a gas station pay at the pump?
For gas stations, a temporary pre-authorization hold (usually around 15-20%) is placed on your Dutch card. This is a standard practice to ensure you have enough funds to cover the purchase. It's not a charge and will 'settle' within approximately 10 business days (7 business days for gas stations). We recommend requesting a specific dollar amount inside the gas station or selecting a lower pre-authorization maximum at the pump to avoid any inconvenience.

Yes! You can fund your account and spend at $0 cost to you! However, we do charge a $1.50 fee for both e-transfers and bill pay. We’ll also be rolling out a premium version that will have a monthly subscription fee.

What if someone on my account spends too much?
We don’t recommend sharing an account with anyone you don’t trust 100%.
But to be safe we added a few safeguards, for example you can’t e-transfer out of your account without the approval of everyone who is on your Dutch wallet.
We have also included a monthly spending limit set by the users to avoid any overspending. With physical cards, we don’t allow for ATM access to prevent any unsavoury actions.

Why was my Dutch Card declined at certain restaurants, hotels, or service-related merchants?
Heads up! Some restaurants, hotels, car rentals, and service-related merchants may add an extra 20% (or more) as a pre-approval hold to cover potential tips. But don't worry, you'll only be charged for the actual amount you sign for at the end. To avoid any issues, make sure you have at least a 20% higher balance on your Dutch Card. If the total exceeds your balance, it will be declined. Just let the merchant know in advance if you want to use another payment method for the difference.
